What Are Trans Fats?
Trans fats are unsaturated fats which have been hardened or hydrogenated in the manufacture of foods such as margarine, cakes and cookies.
Trans fats are similiar to (perhaps worse than) saturated fat, as they raise our LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and may lower our HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol).
The body has no need for trans fats and ideally foods which contain them should be avoided whenever possible.
